It’s been a busy start to the year for our newest students with plenty of events including Year 7 orientation activities, a camp to Phillip Island, a swimming carnival and music information evening.
Students start their orientation journey at Luther College mid-way through Year 6, this helps ensure they feel ready to start school with confidence and positivity. To help our Year 7s settle in, day one of the new school year saw our Year 10 students offer peer support, taking the opportunity to show their younger counterparts around the school, teaching them about their locks and lockers and helping them break the ice with peers.
A two-day camp to Phillip Island shortly after orientation was also a great ice breaker with students not just getting to know one another but also their teachers. Students enjoyed a host of activities including the giant swing, canoeing, twin flying fox, crate climbing and high ropes. In addition, there were competitions between focus classes for best fancy dress plus plenty of games.
Our Music Information Evening was a great opportunity for students to come along with their families, try out an instrument, learn about our ensembles and choirs and talk to teachers about the co-curricular college music program.
Our busy Year 7s have also enjoyed their own swimming carnival as we prepare for the upcoming EISM competition. They will also compete at the whole school House Swimming Carnival in Term 4 this year.
Welcome to our newest students, we can’t wait to see what you can achieve at Luther!
