2012 Luther College Dux and Proxime Accessit

On Friday 1 February, as part of its Opening Service, the Senior School celebrated the academic achievements of the College Dux, Sarah Phillips, Proxime Accessit recipient, Luca Stamatescu, and 22 students who were dux of one or more VCE Unit 3 & 4 subjects.

Sarah Phillips achieved outstanding results with an ATAR of 99.25. In 2012 she was the subject dux for Health & Human Development and LOTE – Indonesian. During her six years at Luther Sarah was actively involved in a variety of school programs, including sports, performing arts and social service. She represented the school in swimming, athletics and cross country at an EISM level and was a volunteer at “The Dining Room”, a community meals centre. In addition to this, she has also achieved her Surf Life Saving Bronze Medallion. Sarah has received an offer to study Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash University.

Luca Stamatescu obtained an ATAR of 99.10 and was the subject dux for Mathematical Methods and also Music Performance. With a love of music, Luca was actively involved in many aspects of the performing arts program at Luther College. Luca will study engineering at Monash University.

The Douglas C W Maroney Legal Studies Prize was presented to Mark James, Dux of VCE Legal Studies. Mark, a current Year 12 student, also achieved a perfect score in this subject.

Congratulations to all these students and to the Class of 2012 for their commitment and dedication to their studies in 2012.
