Celebrating Excellence

The Luther College Dux Joanna Oakley, Proxime Accessit Sarah Benesovsky and subject Dux recipients for VCE subjects undertaken in 2018 were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements at the Senior School Opening Service on Friday 1 February.

In a wonderful occasion, members of the Class of 2018 together with their parents, grandparents and friends took part in a service that also saw the installation of new teachers, our School Captains and House Captains for 2019.

The Douglas C W Maroney Legal Studies Prize was presented by Dr Leanne Benson to Amber Reynoldson and the Dr Caroline Gargett Scholarship for Excellence in Science was awarded by Paul Gargett to Nathan Curnow.

It was a wonderful way to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Class of 2018 and to bless current students and staff for the year ahead.

The Douglas C W Maroney Legal Studies Prize is awarded annually to the top student in Year 12 Legal Studies. Douglas C W Maroney was a highly respected lawyer who served as Chair of the Luther College Council from 2000-2007. He was also an active parents and member of the Luther College community.
The Dr Caroline Gargett Scholarship for Excellence in Science is a prestigious monetary scholarship established by the Gargett family in recognition of Caroline’s role as Professor and one of Australia’s leading medical scientists.
