2018 VCE Student Achievements

As a College it is a real joy to be able to celebrate the individual VCE successes of our students.

We are proud to know that each student has their own individual story at Luther with their own personal learning journey. Our students have set themselves different goals for their VCE and have their own aspirations for their continued pathways for life and study beyond Year 12. It is these individual stories, the post-secondary pathways that have been carefully considered and planned for, that matter most for us and for our students.

At Luther we are committed to the learning that matters most for our students. To us, this means we want more for our students than preparing them to do well in their VCE exams. We want them to develop the skills that will allow them to be successful in their post-secondary studies and in their life beyond Luther. We want them to use all the knowledge, skills and attributes that they have learnt and developed at Luther through their academic, co-curricular, leadership and service learning experiences, to make a difference in the lives of others. For us, for our students, and for our parents with whom we partner, this is the learning that really matters.

The Dux for 2018 is Joanna Oakley with an ATAR of 99.75. She achieved a perfect study score of 50 in Psychology and in 2017 achieved a perfect study score of 50 in Physical Education as a Year 11 student. Joanna is the 2018 Luther College Subject Dux for English, History: Revolutions, Literature and Psychology. Joanna has also received the University of Melbourne Principals’ Scholarship and plans to study a Bachelor of Arts at University of Melbourne in 2019. Throughout the year, Joanna was also actively involved in the Luther community, participating in House and EISM sporting carnivals and as the Senior House Captain for Cheong.

In 2018, 157 of our students applied to do further study in the new year. An ATAR of 90 or above was achieved by 34 students which will certainly be advantageous for them as they transition into the University course of their preference.

As a College we are proud of the students who have made up the graduating class of 2018. They have simply been outstanding, and we wish them every blessing as they use all that they have learnt here at Luther to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
