Sustainability Matters

A67Q3914 400pxThis year the College introduced a new sustainability initiative designed to get students active and competitive in the care of our school.

Launched in Term 3, the Sustainability Cup was the brainchild of two students and three teachers all with a shared commitment for improving sustainability at the College.

Year 10 student Shawn Mitchell, together with Year 8 student Claire Haeusler, both members of the College environmental group SAGE (Student Association for a Greater Environment), were invited to attend the Independent Schools Victoria Southern Cross Program, a professional development workshop usually reserved for teachers and school leaders.

In this rare opportunity, Claire and Shawn worked with Luther teachers Mr Phil Daborn, Miss Anita Morton and Ms Celeste Acfield to complete the program and put in place the foundations  of what is now the Sustainability Cup. After just six months the inaugural winner of the Sustainability Cup was Nelson House.
