Luther wins EISM Cross Country Championship

The Luther College team yesterday won the EISM Cross Country at Ruffey Lake Park, making it nine consecutive wins.

The forecast was for thunderstorms and hail, but thankfully, some light showers was all that was experienced (until it poured when everyone was packing up) - making it a great day for cross country running. And with fine weather the days prior, competition was guaranteed to be tough, however our Cross Country team has been training hard since House Cross Country and was ready for all conditions. Training and preparing for the event together built great team spirit and all runners were eager to take up the challenge of the hilly Ruffy Lake course.

The Boys U13, U14, U15, U16 and Open and Girls U14, U16 and Open sections all placed first and the U13 Boys had the only trifecta for the day in the Eastern Division, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. With such great all round results, Luther was once again declared winners of the Girls Aggregate, Boys Aggregate and Overall Aggregate.

Congratulations to all competitors for their efforts today and their commitment and dedication to training during the term. Thank you to our staff who have worked with the students and supported them in preparation for this carnival and encouraged them on the day. And finally, thank you parents – we greatly appreciate what you do to enable your children to participate and prepare for events such as the EISM Cross Country Carnival.
