Year 12 Theatre Studies

The Year 12 Theatre Studies class production of 12 Angry Jurors opens tonight at Mooroolbark Community Centre

The major focus of Unit 3 Theatre Studies is applying two areas of stagecraft; to interpret a playscript for performance and work as a production team like a professional theatre. As such, the students are required to work collaboratively in both stagecraft areas (often acting and another area such as costume or lighting design, publicity, production management etc) across all stages of the production. The class has worked solidly through the planning and development stages and is now excited to present their work to the community.

12 Angry Jurors is a departure from the styles recently covered in VCE Theatre. This has provided the students with incredible learning opportunities. In addition to requirements of this production, many of the students were actively involved in the Performing Arts Festival and  all have continued to deliver the work requirements for their other VCE subjects. It is a busy time, and the class has embraced the experience with positivity.

I encourage you to come along and see the show – the performances are the culmination of the major Unit 3 coursework (i.e. the final stages of a long, extended SAC) – and I am very impressed with the work they’ve done.
