Luther wins EISM Athletics Championship

The Luther College Athletics Team has won the Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne (EISM) Division 1 Athletics Carnival at Lakeside Stadium for the ninth year in a row.

It was an early start for our athletes, but they were eager to test themselves in a strong competition and looking forward to the day.

The competition was certainly tough, with a very close finish. It was a tight tussle between Luther and another school for top spot, with the lead margin to close for comfort. By the time the relays commenced, the team knew that to get the win each relay team would need to put in a strong performance and finish ahead of our nearest rival.

The rain held off until the end of the day, with a downpour as presentation time sending everyone under cover. It was a nervous wait, but after the points were counted, Luther won five of the ten age groups, the girls aggregate, placed second in the boys aggregate and finished first overall by the narrowest of margins – 57 points.

Congratulations and thank you to all of our students, especially those who were asked to fill in at the last moment and our emergencies who were on hand to jump in if needed. Thank you also to our staff for all of their work on the day and in the lead up. And thank you parents for your continued support and encouragement of your children, our students.

Congratulations Luther College 2017 EISM Athletics Team!
