Whole school community celebrates 50 years

Tuesday 11 February 2014 - Fifty years to the day, the students and staff of Luther College celebrated 50 years of learning.

On Tuesday 11 February 1964, seven teachers and 53 students opened the doors of Luther College for the first time and commenced their academic classes . Fifty years on, the College community gathered in the Quadrangle for a time of worship, reflection and celebration.

Mr Brett Brookman, himself an old scholar and now a teacher at the College, reminisced and shared some of his experiences with the students. School Captains, Tim Wollmann and Jemima Spike added their own thoughts, summarising their experiences as students during the last five years and pondering over what may be in the future.

Their written thoughts, along with a variety of other items, will be placed in a 50th anniversary time-capsule to be interred later this year.

The items for the 50th anniversary time-capsule are on display in the WH Paech Library, along with the contents of the 25th anniversary time-capsule, opened on the weekend.
