2013 Dux of Luther College

On Friday 31 January, as part of its Opening Service, the Senior School celebrated the academic achievements of the College Dux, Mark James, Proxime Accessit recipient Lauren Dymke, and 23 students who were dux of one or more VCE Unit 3 & 4 subjects.


Mark James achieved outstanding results with an ATAR of 99.85. In 2013 he was the subject dux for Accounting, LOTE - Indonesian, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. Mark was also the subject dux for Year 12 – Legal Studies in 2012, obtaining a perfect score of 50.

During his six years at Luther, Mark was actively involved in the life of the College, with a focus on the the performing arts program. He participated in many curricular activities including the New Zealand and Tasmania music tours, a variety of music and vocal groups, performing arts festivals and the Karen Refugee tutoring program.
Mark now has the opportunity to study Commerce/Law at Monash University.

Lauren Dymke obtained an ATAR of 98.30 and was the subject dux of Art, English and Texts and Traditions. She was also the dux of Literature in 2012 and the winner of the 2013 Luther Medallion.

Throughout her six years at Luther College, Lauren has been a fine role model for other students and has participate in numerous musical groups, House Athletics carnivals and represented the College in the EISM Cross Country.
Lauren also participated in the OEM/MacKinnon German Exchange Program, the Building Bridges program and the Central Australia Culture and Service Trip and has served the community through her involvement in the Vive Community Meals program for the last two years.
Lauren has received a place at The University of Melbourne to study Arts.

The Douglas C Maroney Legal Studies Prize was presented to Emily Male, Dux of VCE Legal Studies. Emily has secured a position at Monash University to study Arts/Law.

Congratulations to all of the Class of 2013 – and wish them all the best as they transition to their tertiary study.
