Lauren has always loved helping out in the kitchen and Food Technology enhanced her interest and passion.
The inspiration for my Year 12 Food Technology folio was from living and travelling in Victoria. I wanted my folio to reflect the diversity of the local produce grown within the various regions that encompass this beautiful State.
The five regions I based my folio on were Gippsland, the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, the High Country, the Murray and the Mornington Peninsula. Through undertaking both primary and secondary research, I was able to learn more about the uniqueness of each of the regions and the scenery depicted, as well as the local produce grown in these areas.
The theme of my folio, ‘The Sensational Tastes of Victoria’, reflects the exciting food options available to us. It showcases a range of regional recipes using fresh local produce along with a variety of complex processes and cooking.
I created a sample menu for the gala presentation night of the VCE Seasons of Excellence – Top Designs exhibit and each dish highlighted a region of Victoria.
Lauren’s work will be on display from Friday 18 March until Sunday 16 July 2017 at the Melbourne Museum in Carlton.
