Music
Music is a significant feature of school life at Luther College. It is incorporated into the Year 7 and 8 curriculum as a semester subject or students can audition for the Year 7 and 8 Music Performance Stream. In Year 9, students may choose to study one or more performing arts electives for one semester. Year 10 students may choose music as one of their subjects and will continue study in music theory and begin an in-depth study of the history and literature of music in preparation for the VCE courses in Years 11 and 12.
Year 11 and 12 students may select VCE Music Solo Performance Units 1-4.
Instrumental Music/Singing Tuition
Individual instrumental and singing tuition is available and the following areas are taught:
- Keyboard (piano/pipe organ)
- Strings (violin/viola/cello/double bass)
- Guitar
- Woodwind (flute/clarinet/bass clarinet/oboe/bassoon/alto saxophone/tenor saxophone)
- Brass (trumpet/trombone/French horn/tuba)
- Percussion
- Singing
Students can also participate in a variety of co-curricular performing groups.
